In the last two days i’ve had several of my friends on Bebo send me excellent messages saying that i’m appearing in loads of funny videos from a url that looks not unlike youtube, but totally isn’t. Seems that some hacker / spammer types have managed to break through the security threshold at Bebo and wreak havoc on some users accounts. Yet another reason to move my interweb social activity to Facebook methinks…

I have over 2500 friends on mine, about 50 messages came in, its a mess at the moment
each mail has a different topic too
Pretty scary really, the hoax flash download is very convincing, I almost fell for it myself. I’d say 90% of normal internet users would not think it was anything bad and install the software which may compromise security.
At least if you are using Firefox 3 it warns you of potential danger….
Looks like the founder Michael Birch sold out at a good time too!
these mails are still coming in btw, you would think they would have stopped them by now.
