Female Herald journo takes issue with Ryanair 2009 Calendar

by Hugh on November 11, 2008

Last year, for the craic, I bought a mate of mine the 2008 Ryanair Charity Calendar.  Printed in aid of charities like the Simon Community, the 2009 Ryanair Calendar is ready for ordering and is sure to sell out again.  What a great idea for a great cause – my mate loved his last year, but truth be told I bought it just to have a peek myself.  I’ve ordered a 2009 one for the office already.  Bleedin deadly.  However, some females are up in arms against the thought of such objectification of women, notably Aoife Finneran from the Herald.

Most of us would write a nice article supporting the calendar and applauding the geniusness of the idea – charitable, fun, and appealing to men all in the one go – but instead she chose to call it ‘tacky’, ‘cheap’ and crude’.  I’d say O’Leary loved that description – ‘job done’, he’d say.

However Aoife is clearly offended by it, so something must be done urgently to make her feel slightly happier about the situation.

Aoife probably watches Desperate Housewives – like pretty much every woman I know – so i’m proposing Michael O’Leary ask Jesse Metcalfe very nicely if he’d like to pose for a 2010 calendar aimed at objectifying men, for the visual benefit of women.  Jesse might say yes, you know.  It would contain some snaps of Metcalfe being ‘objectified’, just like he is in Desperate Housewives, ensuring it’d be ‘tacky’, ‘cheap’, and ‘crude’, but at least she’d be able to stare at a new snap of the All American Boy in the buff on the first day of every month.

For Aoife, here is a pic of the boy wonder himself in his underpants.  I hope she likes it.
