Delayed commission approvals - an easy way to piss off publishers
Across all my sites, I work with various merchants in several verticals, and the majority of the time things run reasonably smoothly. Invoices get paid promptly, merchants and affiliate networks keep the lines of communication open with great offers, and the odd ‘thank you’ present arrives through the door. But one problem still looms large day after day - delayed transaction and commission approvals.
I logged into one of my publisher accounts on one affiliate network today, and had another quick glance at my number of transactions pending and the resulting amount, a couple of hundred quid. To be honest i’m usually too busy to really look into these things in detail, but i’d stupidly presumed the pending commissions were due from several merchants who were double checking particular sales. Amazingly though, on closer inspection, all pending transactions - almost 20 - were still pending from ONE merchant! Add to that the fact some of the sales date back to May, and we’re on course for a full-on serving of affiliate annoyance here.
Thinking back, I recall this particular merchant harassing me when their program launched offering above average commission percentages, and various launch offers. The commissions are great, but i’ve not got them yet. Later on i’ll be removing all links to this merchant, never going near them again, and demanding my commissions are pushed through asap or ass will be kicked.
Moral of the story - manage your campaigns properly or face the wrath of the publisher. I’ll be naming and shaming if this isn’t resolved by the way.
